How are you going?

Hello Year 4! :)

I hope you all are well!

I have been using my time locked down in the countryside of New Zealand to try new things. It can get a little boring at times, but luckily we have been blessed with such wonderful weather on both sides of the world! I've managed to get lots of sunshine by helping my mother in her gardens and going on lots of walks past the cows. I hope you have been helpful with your parents at home and are using this opportunity to learn some essential life skills to help you when you are older and have a place of your own :)

Also allow time each day to learn new hobbies and skills which you wouldn't normally have the time to do. I have learnt how to knit! (I wasn't expecting to learn this for another 50 years!). I have also been learning to play new songs on the piano, create some beautiful water colour paintings and cook lots of new recipes in the kitchen!

I really encourage you when you find you have a little time, or are getting a little bored, to jump on Youtube and watch tutorials to help you to learn something new. (It can be tricky to begin- when learning to knit, I had several failed attempts and had to unravel and begin again far too many times, luckily time is on our side).

I would love to hear about what our violinists or guitarists have learnt, what recipes you have made, what household chore you may have learnt, or an entirely new skill!

Thinking of you guys all the time, comment below and let me know what you have learnt.

Much love,

Miss Donald

Miss Donald! So good to hear you are doing lots back home. What a lovely pair of socks - I absolutely love them. Can you make me a pair? Or maybe I should learn to knit too :-) I've been learning to make momos which are stuffed dumplings (a bit like Miss Cheng's). It was difficult to make them and follow the recipe at the same time, but I think I'll make them again as I think a second time will be easier. I wonder what year 4 have been trying out? Take care, Miss Green

Hi Miss Donald! I’m really bored but school work has keepen me busy , I love that I get to see my dad more. I actually learnt that everyone’s nails is actually has salt in their nails, so when you bite your nails it tastes salty!! I did cook for my sister , I cooked potatoes but it was special , I sometimes cook oven food for me, my sister and brother ,when my mum is tired. How are you doing back in New Zealand 🇳🇿 I hope you are having fun with your family again! All the best Rimona😇

Hello Rimona! That is so lovely you are spending more time with your family- enjoy it! That is interesting about your nails, I never knew that, I have to keep painting mine to break my terrible biting habit. New Zealand has been so strict with our lockdowns. I have just left the house only once yesterday for the first time. I am staying with my Mum and she is glad to have me home, the rest of the family is scattered all over NZ so I can't wait for flights to restart so I can head south to see them! All the best, Miss D X

I moved up to Auckland a few days ago (The big city where Diane is from). Today I went exploring and walked up a little volcano. I shall have to put a blog up to show you Nabil! Glad you are coming into school, enjoy the quiet time while you have it. Missing you too! Miss Donald X
