Our daily English lessons give the children the opportunity to be exposed to a range of writing genres. Writing activities are based on a high-quality class text. Children take part in different learning activities in the build up to a written piece of work e.g. learning about different features of texts, immersing themselves in characters to understand them, drama activities, planning their writing and completing grammar activities – all of which is used to create a high quality piece of writing.

SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) is taught weekly which is then modelled in a high quality piece of writing by the class teacher. Children are then encouraged to embed this in their writing. We aim to promote the love of writing and try to encourage the children to be as creative as possible.
